Welcome to the all New World of Narrow Gauge Track
16mm Scale - 32mm Track Gauge
This new track is based around my popular scale Code 180 bullhead rail in Stainless Steel, Brass or Nickel Silver. Most Narrow Gauge tracks are laid in flat bottom rail, but there is no true flat bottom rail available and would anyway be difficult for the hobbyist to curve unless rail benders are employed. But there were a few lines that used bullhead rail as standard, notably the 'Penrhyn Quarry Railway', and when this closed the stock of rail and chairs were purchased by the 'Ffestiniog Railway' who still have some early bullhead rail laid in the yard today. Subsequently the 'Penrhyn Quarry Railway' have purchased the chairs back for restoration work. The chairs are the 2 bolt variety and have been modeled with all the fine detail, including the date '1887' & the name 'W P & Co' as the manufactures, and on the other side 'P. Q. R'. This flexitrack has the rail inclination also included for smoother running.
The double sleeper/chair units are moulded in the basic 32mm track gauge. We are also able to offer slightly widened track at 32.4mm for use on tight radiuses. We now have the Long Sleeper for Turnout construction, then use Gauge 1 chairs and replace these with the NG ones when they become available.Moulded in a dark brown chocolate brown with high UV stabilization included. The Sleepers are 72mm long (Full size 4' 6") x 12mm width (Full size 9") x 5.33mm thick (Full size 4 1/2"). The spacer bars are 25.5mm long. Each double sleeper unit is 75mm overall, and 11.5mm high from the sleeper base to rail top. A maximum flange depth without wheel coning is 2.25mm. Wheel Coning is the small radius that is intentionally added to the joint between the wheel tyre and rim, most manufacturers add this radius, but there are some small companies who don't. With wheel Coning, the maximum flange depth increases to 3.75mm. The whole Sleeper Unit has a thick wall section for rigidity. Fine detailed wood grain to the sleeper top. Discrete fixings are included, so no more unsightly pins through the sleepers. 12 double units are required per yard of track, they are sold in bags of 12 (1 Yard) and 120 (10 Yards).
I hope you will enjoy the effort that has been made to bring a new quality of track to the market.
READY MADE PLASTIC TRACK
If you like 'Ready Made', then this is for you...
READY MADE POINT WORK
For the time being we have made some points using the new Narrow Gauge sleeper unit and the G1 chairs.
All made in U.V. stabilized A.B.S. dark chocolate brown plastic with the best code 180 stainless steel bullhead rail.
Narrow Gauge LH 1000mm Radius
Narrow Gauge RH 2000mm Radius
Narrow Gauge LH 3000mm Radius
Narrow Gauge Y 3000mm Radius
All Pointwork is now fitted with stainless steel over-centre blade spring.
A.S.A. plastic tiebar with soldered nickel silver brackets and stainless steel pivot screws.
All easily replaced in the event of damage.
Blade Spring Cover & 2 stainless steel screws also included.
New - Ready Made 3 Way Point - 2000mm radius only
New - 26 Degree Diamond Point designed to be used with 2000mm radius points.
New - Catch Point - 1000mm radius
Quirky Simple Buffer Stop with 2 x 13mm x 18g escutcheon Pins and 2 x 20mm Fishplates
Modeller's Information - Narrow Gauge Points
To plan your layout, these are the sizes for the various points measured from centre of fishplate to centre of fishplate. The size can be reduced by 35mm if 1 of the 2 standard sleepers is removed after the blade rail end, and a further 35mm if no standard sleepers are used at the nose end.
1000mm left or right = 435mm overall. From the point of the Nose to the end of the Blade = 245mm.
2000mm left or right = 515mm overall. From the point of the Nose to the end of the Blade = 315mm.
2000mm 'Y' = 410mm overall. From the point of the Nose to the end of the Blade = 218mm.
3000mm left or right = 620mm overall. From the point of the Nose to the end of the Blade = 403mm.
3000mm 'Y' = 510mm overall. From the point of the Nose to the end of the Blade = 297mm.
If you do not see pointwork that suits your requirements, please send us an email with a sketch or CAD drawing.
We are able to make LH, RH, Y, Double Radius and diamonds pointwork to any radius or angle (not dual gauge)
This roughly costs 50% extra to the nearest matching pointwork as this will need setting out and are individually made.
RAIL
This is the new rail section which for all intense and purposes has taken over from the old code 200 section. With an overall size of 4.56mm x 2.24mm, a head height of 1.15mm and foot height of 0.66mm, and root thickness of .98mm. It fits the G1 Standard injection moulded sleeper units, the newer Fine sleeper unit and now also the Narrow Gauge sleeper unit. A maximum flange depth of 2.4mm (without wheel coning) can be used. This is a new section drawn exclusively for me in either Brass, Stainless Steel and Nickel Silver. It is far easier to identify which way round the rail has to be fed through the chairs and has a greatly improved appearance. For those modeller's on a budget, this is also the cheapest rail on the market today.
Going on from the traditional choice of brass rail, I introduced the Stainless Steel rail which is now the most popular rail purchased. It has some great advantages over brass, being harder wearing, which is very useful where rail wear could be a problem such as crossing noses or on portable exhibition tracks. It has approximately 30% less expansion and contraction than brass and will not get as hot in the summer heat, so a smaller gap can be used at the fishplates and there is less risk of track buckling in the summer time. It is conductive for those who use 2 rail or stud contact, and it keeps cleaner. Better grip being steel on steel. But the main reason people like the Stainless Steel is the appearance with a slight surface rusting effect after some time outside. Paint will adhere better to steel than brass. It can be silver soldered and soft soldered, using a special flux. A surface rusting fluid is now available as well. This is the most popular rail I now sell, for those modeller's who are looking for the best looking track at reasonable price, there is no choice; once you see it, it has to be "Stainless Steel" rail.
Since the introduction of the Stainless Steel rail, I have now also introduced the code 180 rail in Nickel Silver, and this is available for those modeller's who are used to working in this material in the smaller gauges. It has a similar appearance to Stainless Steel, so could be also be useful in turnout construction for ease of manufacture and soldering. It is conductive for those who use 2 rail or stud contact. Can be silver soldered and soft soldered.
All rail is available in 1 yard (915mm) and 2 yard (1830mm) lengths. There is no difference in cost per yard, but the 2 yard rail has a higher Courier cost.
Double Sleeper Unit
The double sleeper/chair units are moulded in the basic 32mm track gauge, and the widened track for use on tight radiuses. Also in the future a long turnout sleeper and associated chairs will be available for turnout construction. Although designed for code 180 rail, we have noticed that the code 200 bullhead and some semi flat bottom rail will also squeeze through the polypropylene chair, but not the ABS ones.
Moulded in a dark brown chocolate brown with high UV stabilization included. The Sleepers are 72mm long (Full size 4' 6") x 12mm width (Full size 9") x 5.33mm thick (Full size 4 1/2"). The spacer bars are 25.5mm long. The whole Sleeper Unit has a thick wall section for rigidity. Fine detailed wood grain to the sleeper top. Discrete fixings are included, so no more unsightly pins through the sleepers. Each double sleeper unit is 75mm overall, and 11.5mm high from the sleeper base to rail top. 12 double units are required per yard of track, they are sold in bags of 12 (1 Yard) and 120 (10 Yards).
Turnout Long Sleeper Unit
NEW - long turnout sleeper for turnout construction. Moulded in a dark brown chocolate brown with high UV stabilization included. The Sleeper is 136mm long x 14mm width x 5.33mm thick, and has 8 segmented sections in the cavity so that the sleeper can be trimmed and have a solid end. The spacer bars are 25.5mm long, and slides into the adjoining sleeper to allow for different sleeper spacing. The whole Sleeper Unit has a thick wall section for rigidity. Fine detailed wood grain to the sleeper top. Discrete fixings are included, so no more unsightly pins through the sleepers. Sold in bags of 10 and 100.
A set of Chairs, all CAD designed by 'Len Newman' of 'Exactoscale'. Designed for the code 200 rail and newer code 180 rail. Although these are designed for Gauge 1, they are very similar to Narrow Gauge chairs. Use the Plain Chairs as normal, the Bridge Chairs for the frog area, Check Chairs near the blades, and Slide Chairs as normal under the Point blades. These include - Running Chair to standard B.R. "S1" (3 bolt) design, Slide Chair to standard B.R. "PJ" (4 bolt) design with a separate bolt head and a separate support block as in the prototype. The V grease groove is also modeled. A Check Chair to standard B.R. "CC" (4 bolt) design, this has a flange way width of 2.8mm. Also a Bridge Chair to standard B.R. "L1" (4 bolt) design. They are finely modeled to give a great appearance in dark brown UV stabilized A.B.S. plastic. Solvent weld to the turnout sleeper or double A.B.S. sleeper units for multi gauge track, or weld in the separate pin to press into pre-drilled 2.75 to 3 mm diameter holes (depending on the hardness of the wood). These can also be used for modeller's who prefer wooden sleepers; the locating spigot has a cruciform ribbed design. These pins have a rim diameter of 4.9mm, spigot overall diameter of 3mm including the 4 x .1mm anti-turn vertical ribs, rim thickness of .6mm and an overall height of 5mm. 3 bolt chairs in packs of 10, 100 or 1000. Slide, Check or Bridge Chair in packs of 10 or 100. Tophat pins in packs of 10, 100 or 1000.
Injection Moulded Fishplate Rail Joiner
A low cost injection moulded 'Fishplate' rail joiner. 20mm long. These have bolt head detail one side with bolt and nut the other side.
Designed to be sprung onto the rails to hold the rails in line. These have no central insulation bar, but this could easily be fitted with a tiny piece of plastic inserted.
Sold in packs of 10 & 100
They are available in different materials depending on your application and preference:-
A.S.A. - 'Acrylate Styrene Acrylonitrile'. Best general
purpose material which is very UV light stable, stiff with some flexing and should
not snap. Moulded in charcoal black. My first choice for most applications. Weldable.
Bayblend - dark brown 'BAYBLEND' which is ABS and 45% poly carbonate mixture with added UV protection. Stiff with some flexing and should not snap. Weldable.
Polypropylene - a well known material and quite flexible.
Would be useful for those wanting to retrospectively fit when the track is in
situ, as these can be sprung onto the rail more easily. Moulded in U.V. stabilized
dark chocolate brown. Not weldable.
A.B.S. - these are stiffer but could break. Moulded in
U.V. stabilized dark chocolate brown.
Weldable.
Lost Wax Fishplate Rail Joiners
Fishplate Rail joiners in lost wax brass or nickel silver. They come on a frame of 10 and are cut or snapped off as required. Nickel silver can be used to give electrical conductivity. Ideal for curves as they prevent dog legging on the track.
A.S.A. Plastic Point Lever Kit
Plastic Point Lever Red Disc Kit £6.00
NEW - Also available in a choice of 3 extra coloured discs.
So you could use a colour coding scheme (i.e. Red for main line, Yellow for passing loop, Orange for fiddle yard, Green for siding).
Lost Wax Point Lever Kit
A copy of an early hand lever which had a heavy cast iron weight to give the throw. This is robust Point Lever in lost wax brass or nickel silver and has either a 6mm or 8mm throw. The lever is so arranged to indicate which way the turnout is set for the train. There is an "Over centre Radiused stopped end rebate" for throw control. Parts in the kit include; 1 x lever arm, 1 x lever base, 1 x 4BA nyloc nut, 4" x 1/16" brass rodding wire, 2 x M2 x 13mm stainless steel fixing screws, instructions. Some filing, fettling and drilling is required. Paint and grease not included.
Track Fixing Escutcheon Pins
A domed head escutcheon pin. They are made in steel which gives the strength required for fixing and they are also plated in brass and lacquered to give long life protection outdoors.
The discrete fixing on the sleeper unit is 1.5mm high, so this should be deducted from the pin length to give the fixing depth. The the longer 13mm should be the first choice as the discrete fixing hole was made for the 18 gauge, but the shorter 10mm can also be used.
SPECIFICATION;
19 gauge x 10mm long in brass plated steel. Pack of 100 or 1000
18 gauge x 13mm long in brass plated steel. Pack of 100 or 1000

Rail Ruster
I have a rail rusting liquid for the stainless steel. This is a commercial strength acid descalant with a specially developed inhibitor to protect the steel, it is simply brushed on and over night will turn stainless steel rails a nice rusty colour. This can also be used to rapidly descale boilers; it can be used cold and only requires a short contact time. Packed in 125ml. I am not able to ship abroad.
